In this film, the character of the Rani is inspired by American motivational speaker and teacher Brad Cohen, who has become a successful teacher after experiencing all the problems due to Tourette syndrome. He wrote a book on his life, which also included an American film named "Front of the Class" in 2008. Hichki is based on this movie.
